When you look at your site, can you beam with satisfaction and tell yourself, “mighty fine website I have right here! Kudos to my website development firm.”

Or do you scuff your head, look at your competitor’s site, then look at your site for a second time and mutter to yourself, ”serves me right for using the services of this so-so web design firm, I definitely got what I paid for - quite dated, ancient looking website straight out of the 90s!”

If you don’t really know what a dated website appears like, listed here are 5 signs you need to be wary of. Should your site have any of these elements, then maybe you’d like to consult with a new web design firm to help you upgrade the design of your website. After all, you don’t wish your customers to think they got sent back to the 90s!

1.

Ugly Patterned background - If your website has this absurd background image (patterns usually), which undoubtedly decreases the website speed (be concerned that Google also looks at site speed as a factor in the rankings), then perhaps it’s time to take down your geocities inspired internet site and update to a new one. Most brand new sites don’t use background images because they know it decreases loading duration of their sites. If you'll wish to use one, make sure that it’s relevant to your internet site, it’s optimized and its file size minimized so your website visitors won’t have to wait till the following century for the graphic to finally load.

2.  Rotating Flaming Logo - oh yeah make sure you burst into flames already! Any individual who’s ever been doing web design knows how old this style is. A rotating flaming logo on top of the web page, and help you god, using comic sans or some funky looking font coming from 1998. Helvetica sends out its howdy (and would want to remind you that it’s one of the favorite typefaces of designers both traditional and on the internet).

3.  A copy right notice that says a year that’s out of date. Exactly how long has it been since your site has been updated? Your customers will surely be turned off or at the least, confused you haven’t updated your internet site in a long time. For that matter, nearly anything that signifies an old date! From copyright date, to last updates on your blogs (people would rather read something up-to-date, instead of outdated). Additionally, Google prefers fresh & new content, so don’t be surprised your site isn’t seen on the search results pages.

4.  Frames - do you know anyone who actually utilizes frames nowadays? No one utilizes frames anymore. Except if your site hasn’t been upgraded since the late 90s. First, SEO-wise it’s not the most beneficial move in their book, and second, it just doesn’t look great any longer. Nor will it look nice when your website is seen on mobile. And I’m sure you’re informed, many people these days surf the web on their mobiles. You don’t want to lose that market.

5.  A website that only looks excellent on Internet Explorer. There’s Opera Mini, Chrome, Rockmelt, Firefox along with other modest web browsers out on the internet and they’re catching up on the users list of Internet Explorer. Remodel your website and make certain it appears good on all browsers.

So is your site liable for the above crimes? Listen up - there’s still hope. Update your site and get ideas off other sites for any innovative web design trends. Employ a website design firm that will have your best interests as the primary goal. Remember, your website may be old (domain name has been around for many years or more), but the user interface can be innovative, current, and refreshing to your site visitors. Sit back and deliberate the value of your website design and usher in the new web designs of the Twenty-first century! Suggest The 90s called, They Want Their Web Design Back! Topics
